What is changing for charities

Three changes your trustees need to understand this year.

We follow the rules closely so you do not have to. This is where we are helping charities most right now.

Charities SORP 2026

The biggest change to charity accounting in a decade applies to reporting periods starting on or after 1 January 2026. What applies depends on your income tier.

Use the SORP 2026 Navigator

New audit and examination thresholds

For financial years ending on or after 30 September 2026, independent examination starts above £40,000 and audit above £1.5 million. Some charities can now move from audit to examination.

What it means for your charity

Digital filing at Companies House
